At the start of 2025, thanks to generous support from the Chalk Cliff Trust, The Clifton Centre embarked on transforming ‘The Studio’ into a music therapy and facilitation space for the local community.

From April onwards, the funding helped us to soundproof and adapt the space into a dedicated music room, providing the right atmosphere for reflective, creative and therapeutic work. The room now hosts a mix of music therapy and music facilitation sessions. Every week, around twelve individuals access the room for therapy sessions led by qualified practitioners. Alongside this, a further 8 individuals regularly attend music facilitation sessions focused on creativity, self-expression, and building confidence. These sessions support people with learning disabilities, complex support needs and those who identify as neurodivergent. The room is also used by local singing groups and local musicians for creative space and rehearsal.

The Chalk Cliff funding has also made it possible to offer one-to-one music sessions for people who are economically disadvantaged or hard to reach, ensuring that financial barriers don’t prevent anyone from accessing the benefits of music. These sessions have focused not only on well-being but also on artistic ambition, with participants developing recording projects, songwriting ideas and other creative outcomes that celebrate their individuality.

As the funding draws to a close we plan to bring in a local filmmaker support us to showcase The Studio as well as promote the Clifton Centre’s wider vision for the future.

Friday, October 17th, November 14th, December 12th at 12.15pm.
